About

Your skin lives with heat, haze and humidity every day. Our formulas use plants that grow up in exactly the same weather.

The Founders

Embun was started by two friends, Aisyah and Mei Ling, who shared a soft spot for simple, honest skincare. The brand is young, but the recipe behind it is much older.

A modern take on an oil loved for generations in Negeri Sembilan. It all began with Aisyah’s nenek, who slow-cooked virgin coconut oil with pandan, serai and a little kunyit in her kitchen in Kuala Pilah. Cousins rubbed it on dry elbows, aunties used it after long days in the padi field, and every visitor went home with a small jar. For years the recipe lived only in her head and in a notebook nobody else could read.

Aisyah and Mei Ling spent two years turning that notebook into formulas a small lab in Shah Alam could make safely, keeping the plants and the method and dropping the guesswork. The result still smells like that kitchen, uses what grows here and fits easily into a modern routine.

Sustainability

Sourced close to home

We're proud to buy our pandan, serai and kunyit from smallholder farms in Pahang, Perak and Kelantan, and our kelulut honey from family-run bee farms. Fair prices, regular visits and a short supply chain matter to us.

Formulation

Carefully formulated

We take our time with every formula, testing each one for months in real Malaysian conditions so it stays gentle, feels light in the heat and does exactly what the label says.

Our formulas are made without parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde releasers, sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), mineral oil, petrolatum, paraffin, diethanolamine (DEA) or plastic microbeads. We use no animal-derived ingredients except beeswax, kelulut honey and goat milk, and only in the products that list them.

Our History

2019

Embun launched its first three products at a weekend market in Bangsar, starting with the original coconut and pandan oil. Most of that first batch sold out before lunch.

2021

We moved into body care with a lemongrass wash and a coconut-milk cream, made with ingredients bought straight from smallholder farms, and opened our online store during lockdown.
